Website down? How to tell if it is DNS

If browsers fail to find your site's address, it looks down even when the server is fine. The check below asks public DNS what visitors' browsers get for your domain.

Your own result, checked now in your browser

The check runs from your browser and nothing is saved to an account. To keep it free and fair, Xovris counts checks for 25 hours without keeping the readable address and holds a result for 60 seconds; your browser remembers the last address you checked. The DNS problems that take a site offline

Missing address records, a domain that no longer exists in DNS, name servers that do not answer, and broken DNSSEC signatures all stop visitors. Broken DNSSEC is the most confusing: the records are there, but validating resolvers – including Cloudflare's and Google's public ones – refuse to answer.

When it is not DNS

If DNS answers and the site still fails, the problem is the server or the certificate. The full check on the home page also asks Xovris's probe for the page and its certificate.
